FAQs

GENERAL

Where / what did you study? I studied BA(Hons) Illustration at Edinburgh College of Art, and graduated in 2016 with a 2:1. If you are thinking of studying illustration, especially at ECA, I’d be more than happy to answer any questions you may have about this (I know this would have really helped me many years ago!), so please do get in touch either via email hello@victoriaroseball.com or on Instagram @victoriaroseball

Why Edinburgh? I moved here in 2013 to study, and instantly fell in love with the city. From the first day I moved here, despite being over 300 miles from where I grew up, I felt right at home. The city has the perfect balance of all the things I love - stunning architecture, a fascinating history, winding streets perfect for exploring, a creative buzz, lots of green spaces and close proximity to the sea. What more could I ask for!

Favourite places to explore in Edinburgh? There’s so much to choose from! Recently I’ve been loving walks along the Water of Leith through Dean Village and Stockbridge - both perfect for stunning photo opportunities! Broughton Street / Bruntsfield / Marchmont are my favourite areas for a mooch around shops, as they’re full of incredible small businesses to support. If you’re looking to visit Edinburgh and are after ideas of places to check out, I’d recommend giving @myedinburgh and @exploringedinburgh a follow on Instagram.

What inspires you? I get a lot of my inspiration from my surroundings - I regularly go on walks around Edinburgh and love exploring new places within the city. I take a lot of photographs when I’m out and about too, most of which I refer back to at a later date when coming up with ideas for new project collections. I find social media an incredible place for inspiration - I can easily lose a few hours scrolling through architecture / illustration tags when I’m stuck in a creative rut.

Your cat is so cute! Tell me more about him? I know, right?! Munch is a 1 year old ginger Munchkin cat (meaning his legs are about 3” shorter than most cats). He loves snuggles, chin scratches and a good flex of the vocal chords to get my attention! He’s got his own Instagram account too - @munch.munchkin

BESPOKE ARTWORK

I want to get in touch about a commission / house portrait. How do I go about this? Amazing! Thank-you. First of all, I LOVE creating bespoke pieces for customers and really appreciate any that come my way, they are always a pleasure to work on. See my Bespoke Artwork page for examples of pieces I have created before. If you know what you are after, email hello@victoriaroseball.com with what you have in mind. If you are wanting something for a specific deadline, e.g, for a gift, please specify this in your initial email and I will try my best to accommodate. Most commissions take approximately 3 week to complete, although this does vary depending on the level of work required. For house / location specific illustrations, please provide a handful of clear photographs which I will use to work from and specify any extra details you would like included, for example a street address or family name to be written as part of the piece.

SHOP

I need help placing an order / I have an issue with an order. Help? Email hello@victoriaroseball.com with further details and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can

There’s something missing from my order! Uh oh! I’m only human and unfortunately mistakes can sometimes happen. Please email hello@victoriaroseball.com with your order number and details about what is missing

My order hasn’t arrived! Where is it? Busy periods can cause a bit of a back-log of orders with myself and Royal Mail, so please do be patient during these times! For UK orders, please leave 2 weeks before getting in touch about missing parcels. For international orders, please leave 4 weeks before getting in touch about missing parcels. Email hello@victoriaroseball.com and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. For further information regarding shipping and delivery times, visit my Shipping Information page.

Can I send products directly to a friend? Of course! Please ensure that their address is down as the shipping address and leave a note with the order at checkout. I can also hand-write a message to your friend, if you’d like! Rest assured, no packing slips are included with orders so your friend won’t be able to see any prices.

Where do you get your work printed / made? Unfortunately, information on where my work is produced isn’t something that I feel comfortable sharing openly, as sourcing reliable suppliers takes a lot of time and effort - it’s pretty much a job in itself. Every artist / shop has a different set of priorities when it comes to products and what is the most suitable for them. I would suggest having a google and ordering samples / placing small orders before going ahead with any large quantities. There are lots of companies out there and finding ones that aren’t suitable is equally as important!

Where can I buy a frame for my new print? If you’re in Edinburgh, I’d recommend my lovely friends at Curiouser and Curiouser for bespoke framing. For an off the shelf frame, most high-street stores with homeware sections sell a large variety of frames.

I run a business / shop and I want to stock your work! Thank-you!! I have a handful of stockists who I work very closely with to supply my range of products within their shops, and I’m always looking to expand on this. Before getting in touch, please check my list of Current Stockists to ensure that your business isn’t neighbouring one of these and would therefore create any competition, as this will be the first thing I look out for when supplying somewhere new! To get in touch, email hello@victoriaroseball.com with as much information as possible (where you are located, what your shop sells, your social media handles, etc) and I’ll get back to you with a link to my wholesale catalogue and information about placing an order.
